    Hello everyone,

For this discovery exercise, I chose three resources that examine artificial intelligence and machine learning in hospitality from diverse angles: industry progress, real-world technology use, and professional studies.

    1. Hospitality Net – AI in Hospitality

    Website: Hospitality Net

Hospitality Net is an independent platform dedicated to the hospitality sector, offering news, reports, expert panels, podcasts, and opinion pieces. It is especially valuable because it consistently features AI topics such as chatbots, personalization, robotic services, revenue management, demand forecasting, and data-driven hotel operations.

I appreciate that the site presents perspectives from hospitality executives, technology specialists, researchers, and consultants. This makes it possible to compare different viewpoints rather than relying on a single company’s claims. For my interests in tourism and sustainability, the site also raises important questions about whether AI can help businesses reduce waste, better manage resources, understand visitor behavior, and improve the guest experience without eliminating the human side of hospitality.

    2. Oracle Hospitality

    Website: Oracle Hospitality

Oracle Hospitality showcases the integration of AI and machine learning into real hotel management systems. Its resources describe how these technologies predict demand, analyze guest data, customize offers, automate certain tasks, and recommend suitable upgrades or services to guests at optimal moments. This information clarified the distinction between generative AI, which can create text and engage with guests, and predictive machine learning, which analyzes historical booking trends, preferences, and market conditions to aid forecasting and decision-making. Since Oracle promotes its own products, I recommend cautiously evaluating its performance claims. Nonetheless, the site offers useful examples of AI advancing from concept to daily hospitality operational use.

    3. HSMAI Foundation Hospitality Research

    Website: HSMAI Foundation Research

The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International Foundation offers specialized research, reports, case studies, and guidance within the hospitality sector. Its latest resources explore how generative AI is impacting hotel sales, marketing, revenue management, employee development, recruitment, and talent management. I value this source because it emphasizes both people and technology. Adopting AI isn’t just about acquiring new software; it also involves employee training, responsible leadership, data literacy, and thoughtful decisions about which tasks humans should handle. This aligns with my interest in ethical and sustainable tourism. Technology should support staff and guests, not reduce hospitality to an automated process. These resources illustrate that AI and machine learning are already shaping the entire hospitality experience, spanning travel planning, reservations, and pricing, as well as guest communication, hotel operations, and post-stay feedback. They also highlight that successful implementation involves more than just technical skills. Hospitality organizations need to focus on data quality, privacy, transparency, employee preparedness, accessibility, and maintaining meaningful human interactions.
